Salem School District

Under the direction of Tara Bazydlo, Director of Literacy, and in consultation with building principals, the Reading Specialists support and coordinate reading and writing instruction and assessment.

In addition to coaching, supporting, and providing job-embedded professional development for classroom teachers, elementary Reading Specialists direct and monitor interventionists – the staff members who provide supplemental support services to students.  This includes Title I-funded, NH certified teachers as well as reading assistants in Salem’s five elementary schools.

As resident literacy experts in their schools, Reading Specialists ensure that each student receives developmentally appropriate instruction in order to meet the Salem School District’s literacy standards.
