Welcome to the Woodbury Guidance Web Page! Our guidance team offers a comprehensive guidance program to all students at Woodbury School. Middle school is an exciting time, which brings change and sometimes challenges for students and families. We are a resource for students, parents, and teachers and we invite you to contact us at anytime.
Where are we located?
We are located in the sixth grade wing, down the short set of stairs and the first right after the library. Mrs. Good will greet you as you enter our office.
How to make an appointment
Students may ask their teachers for a pass to the guidance office to make an appointment with our secretary, Mrs. Good, during the school day. On the day of your appointment, you will receive a pass to the guidance office during first period class. Make sure to look at the time on the pass! When it is time to leave class, just ask your teacher to go, your pass will be signed, and you can come to our office. Parents may also call or contact any one of us if you have questions about your child's emotional well-being or academic status.
What does a school counselor do?
We see students individually, conduct a variety of groups, sometimes for specific subjects (social issues, changing families, academics). We consult with families and teachers and we are also a part of the Special Services Team and the CHIC Team (Children in Crisis). Counselors teach classes in every grade level, such as adventure based education (ABE), careers, harassment and bullying. We coordinate annual tests, such as NECAP and algebra testing. Counselors also work with students to help make the transition to middle school easier by visiting fifth grade classrooms in the spring. teams.
