Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Welcome! We hope you had a nice and restful summer.  As you may be aware this year the  Salem School District is implementing a new freshmen program that will offer students additional instructional time. We would like to take the opportunity to introduce ourselves and welcome you to our team for the freshmen program.

Mr. Milliken-English (mark.milliken@sau57.org)

Mrs. Taplin-Math (staplin@sau57.org)

Mr. Whittle-Social Studies (kwhittle@sau57.org)

Mrs. Bursaw/Mrs. Lambert-Science (nbursaw@sau57.org/llambert@sau57.org)

Ms. Moutsioulis-Case Manager (angeliki.moutsioulis@sau57.org)

To ensure a smooth transition from middle school please find below the regulations and policies for our freshmen team.

Attendance- It is very important to the success of your child that he/she is in class on time each day.  If your child is expected to be out of school for an extended period of time please contact us for make-up work.

Grades- Each core class teacher will set class expectations for their discipline at the beginning of school. However, if your child’s grade drops to a C- in any class we will send home a progress slip as a communication tool.  It is expected that the progress report will be signed and returned .

Behavior- Students are expected to follow all policies within the student handbook.  We encourage you to review the handbook with your child at your earliest convenience. The handbook can be found at the Salem High School website at www.sau57.org/shs/Pages/Home.aspx.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could assist in the school’s implementation of the electronic device policy. Personal communication devices such as cellular phones or iPod players should not be present when a student enters the classroom.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at 893-7069.

Sincerely,

Your  Freshmen Team
