Welcome Back

August, 2011

Hello Everyone.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you again soon.  Summer is a restful time but as the first day of school approaches it becomes very busy as we get ready for the new school year.  We have planned for a great year.

I want to remind everyone to mark their calendars because we are having our Welcome Back Picnic before school begins.  The picnic will be held on Monday, August 29th from 5:30 – 7:00.  This is a great event sponsored by the Soule School PTA.  Please see reverse side for important September dates.

New faces at Soule School this year:

Natalia Ethridge-ESOL is back from maternity leave

Charlene Petty – Grade 1 Teacher

Monica Wojtas – Title 1 Teacher

Taryn Lytle – Title 1 Teacher

                        Yvonne Borghetti – Library Assistant

A lot of information will be coming home during the first days and weeks of school.  Bus routes will be posted on the Salem School District Website –  School lunch is available for $1.45; $.35 for milk if your child has a bag lunch and breakfast for $1.00.  Students should bring in a healthy snack as most teachers schedule a daily snack break.  Remember to label your child’s lunchbox as well as all of their belongings with first and last name.

Once again, we will send most notices and information home electronically through Constant Contact to be efficient and save paper.  If you have not registered, please do so at, under the School tab, select Soule School and follow the directions under the “Information and Forms” section or select “Join Our Mailing List” in the lower right hand corner.  If you are registered please remember to update the grade level information you wish to receive.  If you do not have access to the internet, please let the teacher know so we can send home hard copies.

With the designation of a School In Need of Improvement, we have planned a yearlong set of Professional Development activities for the staff and parents.  The plan is aligned with the literacy and numeracy initiatives that have been part of the district plan.  Our plan will be on the website soon for your review along with other important information and dates so please visit

I am looking forward to another great year.  It is always exciting to have the kids back.  The school is just not the same without them here.  Hope to see all of you at the picnic.

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer.
