North Salem School > Library

North Salem Elementary School would like to invite you to visit our school library online. Our library catalog provides information on all of the books and other materials that can be checked out by our students. You can browse our collection with your child and help them select that "just right book."  The library is also pleased to provide you with access to several educational databases that are free for our students to use in school or at home.

EBSCO Kids Search

This search tool (provided to all school and public libraries by the State of New Hampshire) has full text and PDF versions of over 70 children's magazines in an easy to search format designed especially for elementary students. It also includes a general encyclopedia and an encyclopedia of animals.

Grolier's America the Beautiful

Providing information on the states, noted Americans, and U.S. history, this resource also includes maps and timelines. In addition, there is an online dictionary, almanac and atlas.

World Book Kids

Access two versions of the original World Book Encyclopedia created just for schools. The Kids Edition is for our youngest researchers and has easy to understand information. The Student Edition is a more traditional version of the encyclopedia and is great for upper elementary students.

CultureGrams

CultureGrams is an online database providing information about countries of the world. Each report includes up-to-date, engaging cultural information, complete with images, historical timeline, fun facts, and sections on history, population, and more. The Kids report (over 70 countries) and the States reports are specifically designed for upper elementary students.

*Note: The databases listed above require user names and passwords that we are prohibited from providing to you on our school web site. Please call or e-mail for user names and passwords or if you have any questions.
