YOUR CHILD'S HEALTH IS IMPORTANT TO US
The Salem School District employs a full time nurse in each school. School nurses are often the first to detect health conditions that interfere with school attendance and participation.
Our Health Offices are busy places! Our nurses:
Provide the bridge between home, school and the pediatrician
Perform health screenings and make appropriate referrals
Administer and monitor responses to medications
Ensure that every child is immunized per New Hampshire State Law
Develop and implement Individualized Health Care Plans
Provide emergency care of injuries and acute illnesses for students and staff
Assess student and staff health complaints and make appropriate referrals
Provide individualized health counseling and health education
Support the teacher with health lessons in the classroom
"If I could make any changes at all to the current health care system, you know I would start with education, education, education. You can't educate people that are not healthy. But you certainly can't keep them healthy if they're not educated."
-Jocelyn Elders, M.D. & Surgeon General
