May is a busy, busy month yet we finally begin to feel the warmth of Spring which raises everyone’s spirits. However, last week’s didn’t feel like Spring at all!
I hope to see many of you at our PTA Meeting on Wednesday, May 9th. Fisk School’s incoming Principal, George Murray, will be attending this month’s meeting.
May 18th we will have a cultural event, Prismatic Magic, here at Fisk School compliments of the Fisk PTA. The American Pride Laser Spectacular, presented by Prismatic Magic of Wayne, NJ, is an exciting ensemble of mesmerizing laser-drawn animations set to patriotic and spirited music.
Our Spring Chorus Concert will take place on May 23rd. Our 4th and 5th graders will be presenting a Pirate performance. The scenery and costumes are outstanding! They sound excellent, so mark your calendars for the 23rd at 7:00pm. If you cannot make the 7:00pm performance you are welcome to attend the 2:00pm dress rehearsal performance on Friday, May 18th.
We are looking forward to our Volunteer Tea. A very special morning for staff, students and, of course, our VOLUNTEERS! We hope many of you can join us for breakfast on May 25th at 9:00am. This is one small way the staff and students of Fisk can show you how much you are appreciated.
On the afternoon of May 25th the students and staff at Fisk will join together for our annual Memorial Day Service. We would like to make this more meaningful for our students by assembling a display honoring deceased service men and women who were members of our families here at Fisk. Please look for notices that will be sent home. We will be holding our school wide service on the afternoon of May 25th. Again, this year Grade 5 will honor and share information about the veteran, Howard Spencer, who has a plaque on Fisk School property. Other classrooms will present a poem and we will all sing patriotic songs.
A reminder to all: If students are going to be riding their bikes or walking to school now that the good weather is almost here, please remember they must have a note from home giving them permission to do so. Also, bike riders must wear a helmet and lock up their bikes.
Our themes days for this month are: Your favorite baseball team day on May 11th and we will have a Red, White & Blue Day on the 25th in observance of Memorial Day.
